St. Lucie Clerk & Comptroller's office earns over 180K during successful Operation Green Light
FORT PIERCE, FLA. (May 17, 2021) - In February 2021, the St. Lucie County Clerk and Comptroller's office participated in Operation Green Light. This event is a statewide, coordinated initiative that assists citizens with their unpaid traffic fines and traffic court costs. Residents can have their cases recalled from collections during the event, allowing citizens to pay their fees without incurring a 40 percent collection surcharge.
This year over 900 cases were recalled from collections. Of those 900 recalled cases, 140 were paid in full, while more than 780 were placed on a payment plan. Those who entered a payment plan could also sign up for text and email reminders. "Operation Green Light proved to be extremely successful, and our office was pleased to reinstate many driver licenses in-house while helping others establish a payment plan," said Clerk Miller.
Operation Green Light is typically held once a year. However, if you or someone you know has outstanding court costs or unpaid traffic fees that have gone to collections, be sure to visit www.stlucieclerk.com periodically for the next Operation Green Light dates.
